Your father would have told you to put on a sweater. We’d like to propose a better solution.

We realize many of our customers may not have hired a home performance contractor before, and might be a little skeptical. We don’t take it personally. After all, the term is relatively new. But the need has always been there.

The home you lived in as a child was probably drafty and leaky. That’s just the way homes were built back then, and your parents most likely just shook their heads as they dutifully paid another high energy bill. As structures improved, so too did their energy efficiency. But in millions of homes around the world, energy is still being wasted. And homeowners still feel it, especially when it hits their pocketbooks.

Fortunately, new technologies allow home performance experts to run a series of diagnostic tests on structures to detect and remediate energy loss in structures of all shapes and sizes. If you have rooms that are too cold in the winter, or too warm in the summer—or is you suspect that you’re wasting energy and you don’t know the best place to start—a JCN Home Energy Audit may be right for you. Don’t throw money toward solar, wind or new HVAC systems before you conduct these important tests.

Our audits are comprehensive and include the whole house. We look at the house as a system.  The envelope, the insulation and HVAC system needs to work as a system.  If one of these parts fails, a complaint will typically develop.  Of course, you’re always encouraged to accompany us and ask questions during the 1-3 hours it takes to analyze your structure top to bottom. You’re likely to learn a lot about your home.

  • Air sealing and insulation has the quickest payback of all energy upgrades
